A Pennsylvania State Police trooper has pleaded guilty to using state computers and databases to create AI-generated pornography, according to Attorney General Dave Sunday . Stephen Kamnik , 39, admitted to several charges for crimes that date back as far as 2020.

More than 10,000 imagesInvestigators noticed unusually high bandwidth usage associated with his state-owned computer, prompting an audit that revealed more than 10,000 images of pornography on the device. Police said the AI-generated images and deepfakes used pictures of celebrities, state and local leaders, including a Montgomery County judge, and members of the public. Some of the victims were targeted inside Kamnik’s own home. Attorney General's response 'This defendant pleaded guilty to the full scope of conduct outlined in charging documents — and in regards to all in-person victims,' Sunday said. 'These crimes stain the great work being done by law enforcement every day in communities across the Commonwealth.'Kamnik has been suspended without pay since being charged and is scheduled to be sentenced in early July.Kamnik pleaded guilty to:Four felony counts of unlawful use of computerSexual abuse of children, a felonyReceiving Stolen Property , a felonyUnlawful duplication, a felonyInterception, disclosure or use of wire, electronic or oral communications, a felonyCriminal trespass, a felonyMisdemeanor counts of invasion of privacy, official oppression, tampering with evidence, misapplication of entrusted property, and unlawful use of an audio or video device in courtKamnik's sentencing is scheduled for July 8.
