Three firefighters are facing fraud and tampering charges are allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars for falsely reporting work hours, according to police documents from Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police.
Ryan Murphy, 36, Kody Rodkey, 25, and Nicholas Kimmel, 30, are facing charges of unlawful use of a computer, theft by deception and tampering with public records. Charging documents state that between Nov. 1, 2024, and January 2, 2025, Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Murphy allegedly altered the stipend calendar for Paxtonia Fire Company and fraudulently reported that staff members were working when they were not. The false reports lead to those staffers, including Murphy, getting paid for hours they did not work. Police say Murphy submitted fraudulent reports over 20 times, resulting in $1,650 in deceptive payments. The suspected staffers were reportedly not at the station to respond to calls or act in any working capacity. Kimmel, captain and president of Paxtonia Fire Company, faces the same charges after police documents state that he made the same fraudulent alterations, giving him more than $800 in deceptive payments.All three men await a preliminary hearing set for April 7.
