A father who admitted to shooting his daughter was sentenced in Hamilton County court on Wednesday after he took a plea deal.
SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A father who admitted to shooting his daughter in 2025 was sentenced in Hamilton County court on Wednesday after he took a plea deal .
Attached to the plea deal is a 14-to-19.5-year sentence with two to five years of post-release control. According to FOX19 NOW’s previous coverage, Franklin confessed to shooting his daughter, 24-year-old Heather Thompson, after they got into an argument inside their Sycamore Township home. Franklin Thompson is accused of gunning down his 24-year-old daughter at their Sycamore Township home early Monday, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
Heather Thompson, 24, was gunned down inside this home on 6th Street in Sycamore Township, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. She lived there with her father and sister. Deputies and Sycamore Township Fire & EMS were dispatched to the Thompsons’ home after a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kyla Woods told FOX19 NOW that the caller found the victim in the front room and began performing CPR.
Moments later, deputies found the suspect walking around the neighborhood with a firearm. They arrested and charged him with murder.
“No one expected anything like this to happen, but her dad definitely had been troubled,” Jazmin Bernal previously said.
