FREEPORT , Fla. - According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, a school in Freeport is under lockdown after a shooting on a nearby road.
WCSO says Freeport Elementary and Freeport Learning Center are on lockdown after a shooting incident on Stella Drive. According to officials, a suspect is now in custody. WCSO was looking for a white male with reddish brown hair, age 15, considered armed and dangerous. WCSO says this lockdown is precautionary.
Parents can sign into the school as the last day of school activities are scheduled, but no one can check out. The sheriff’s office says there is an increased law enforcement presence in the area. Walton CI K-9 Teams and the WCSO Drone Unit is on the scene. Stella Drive is cut off, and N Jackson is shut down between Highway 20 and Old Eucheeanna Road.
