Jordy Frahm wins second consecutive NFCA Player of the Year award, while freshman Alexis Jensen sets records and earns All-American honors. The duo leads Nebraska to the Women's College World Series.
Nebraska pitcher Jordy Frahm has been named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, matching her 2025 award.
The senior right-hander adds this honor to her 2026 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, which she received on Tuesday. Frahm becomes the first athlete to win back-to-back NFCA Player of the Year honors since the award began in 2016. She also earned first-team All-American status for the fourth time in her career and received the Rawlings Gold Glove at pitcher, becoming the second Husker to win that award, following fellow Papillion native Courtney Wallace.
Frahm’s trophy case continues to fill as she adds these national honors to her Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and first-team All-American accolades from D1Softball and Softball America. She ranks among Nebraska’s all-time top 10 in multiple categories: total bases (second), slugging percentage (fourth), extra-base hits (fifth), runs scored (fifth), batting average (sixth), home runs (sixth), hits (eighth), and triples (10th).
This season, Frahm helped Nebraska win the Big Ten regular-season and conference tournament titles and guided the Huskers to their eighth Women’s College World Series appearance. She leads the team with a .416 batting average, 19 home runs, 50 RBIs, 11 doubles, and 59 runs scored. In the circle, she posted a 20-4 record with a 1.14 ERA and 12 saves, tying the Big Ten single-season saves record and ranking sixth all-time in NCAA history.
She added eight shutouts and 234 strikeouts, placing her in the top 10 nationally in ERA, saves, shutouts, strikeout-to-walk ratio, strikeouts, and WHIP. After receiving her USA Softball Player of the Year honor on Tuesday, Frahm said, “I just want to thank my teammates, my coaches, and all of the support staff for Nebraska Softball. This has been such a special year, and without all of you, it’s not happening.
I have just never been more motivated by the love of the people I get to spend every day with. ” Not to be outdone, freshman pitcher Alexis Jensen has been a formidable partner in the circle. Jensen went 25-2 and set Nebraska’s freshman records for wins (25) and strikeouts (217). She leads all freshmen nationally in wins and strikeouts and was a finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year.
Named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Jensen ranks in the top 10 nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio (fourth), strikeouts (14th), strikeouts per seven innings (sixth), wins (seventh), and WHIP (15th). She also contributed offensively with a .319 average, four doubles, six home runs, and 17 RBIs. The dynamic pitching duo powered Nebraska through the Lincoln Regional and Super Regional, allowing just one run in 21 innings over three regional games.
Frahm struck out 16 batters in one game, tying a career high and setting a program record for strikeouts in an NCAA tournament game since 2005. The Huskers outscored their Super Regional opponents 17-2 in two games, including a seven-run fifth inning that ended the series early. Jensen credited Frahm for helping her navigate the challenges of her first college season.
“She showed me that yes, you make mistakes, but how can you respond? What’s your response to the mistake? ” Jensen said. Frahm praised Jensen’s fearlessness: “Something that I’ve learned from Alexis, and I’ve really leaned into, is just the way she came in as this freshman who is absolutely fearless.
She bowed up from the first second she stepped in the circle against that top offense. ” Together, Frahm and Jensen have the Huskers poised for a deep run in the Women’s College World Series, seeking to become the first Nebraska team to win a national championship
