The First Alert Weather Team has declared a First Alert Weather Night for Tuesday, March 4.

“The First Alert Weather Team is tracking the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms Tuesday night/early Wednesday. We’re in the window to get the hi-res, short-term model data and the threat time-frame looks to be primarily between midnight and 4 am.

Minor timing adjustments are still possible. Yet again, another overnight severe threat. The overall severe weather parameters are on the lower end of what we can see this time of year, but there will certainly be enough wind energy and likely enough convective energy in the atmosphere to produce some rotating storms, capable of producing isolated tornadoes, along with a good chance of gusty winds. Note the third image here - even ahead of the main line of storms, wind gusts over 40 mph will be possible. Within the stronger storms, winds gusting over 50 or 60 mph will be possible. The Storm Prediction Center currently has much of the Wiregrass outlined in a Marginal Risk, level 1 of 5. I expect our area to be upgraded to a Slight Risk, level 2 of 5, at least. Review your severe weather plans for Tuesday night. Especially your means of getting warnings to wake you up. Secure loose items in your yard. Stay weather-aware and tell your family and friends about this upcoming threat!” News4 will provide live coverage on TV and online as needed.
