Southern Area Fire and Emergency Rescue crews were called around 11:36 a.m. Sunday to the 3000 block of South Queen Steet for a car fire. Crews arrived to find the car in flames. Firefighters tried to put water on the fire, but it didn't work. “This type of vehicle fire was complicated due to the lithium Ion batteries being on fire as well as the fire compromising the fuel tank,” SAFER wrote in a. “Foam was utilized to maintain control over the gasoline fed fire and a special container was brought to the scene by Mikes Towing which the burning vehicle was placed into.” Once the car was inside the container, crews filled it with water to submerge the vehicle, successfully extinguishing the fire.“It seems lately that the fire service in general is always facing something new and even more dangerous,” SAFER said. “Excellent job to all involved today as we experienced our first incident of this kind!”The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection accused J&K Salvage of violating its order to close the business, according to a new court filing.Route 322 was closed for part of Sunday morning after a crash that reportedly involved a horse and buggy, according to Lancaster County dispatch.The call came in around 4:46 a.m. at the 1900 block of Stoverstown Road, where flames were found coming from the basement, dispatch confirmed.A 20-year-old’s life was cut too short in a shooting, and now a Harrisburg mother is trying to live through the pain of losing him.
