A woman was shot after a disturbance between a group of people turned violent at Hing Hay Park on Sunday.
Around 10:17 p.m. Seattle police received calls that someone was shot at 423 Maynard Avenue South. When they arrived, they found a 57-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Seattle police and fire provided emergency medical treatment to the woman before she was transported to Harborview Medical Center. She was in serious but stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. According to authorities, the situation started as a disturbance between a group of people at the park. A man pulled out a gun and fired off multiple rounds.
Police said the woman was not the intended target. During their investigation, police found the man loitering nearby, watching the scene. One of the witnesses recognized him and alerted police.Even after an extensive search police were unable to locate the firearm used during the shooting.
