7, the victim was awakened by loud banging at her door. She observed that her ex-boyfriend was outside. Believing that he would soon leave, she did not answer the door. The man entered the residence after tearing a screen and opening an unlocked window. The suspect, a 35-year-old Cleveland man, argued with the woman, and eventually the argument turned physical, according to a Westlake Police Department press release. The man took the victim’s phone and prevented her from leaving the home for a time. He eventually returned the phone and fled the scene. Investigators learned that the suspect was on federal probation, according to the police department. Working with his probation officer, Westlake detectives had the man turn himself in at the Westlake jail on Jan. 9. The suspect was charged with felony aggravated burglary. A prosecutor may ask a Cuyahoga County grand jury to consider additional charges, according to the police department’s press release.At 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 10, officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on a red Dodge Avenger on Columbia Road at I-90 for equipment and moving violations. However, the driver refused to stop for cruisers with flashing lights and sirens. Westlake officers called off the chase when the car exited the highway at Warren Road. Rocky River officers pursued the suspect’s vehicle into Cleveland for a short time before also calling off the chase. The Cleveland Police Department was notified of the incident. Cleveland officers soon found the abandoned car near the registered owner’s residence on Sackett Avenue in Cleveland. Westlake officers responded to Cleveland and towed the suspect’s vehicle for further investigation. A relative of the suspected driver was contacted at a home on Sackett. A warrant was obtained for the arrest of the 20-year-old female suspect. Detectives contacted the family, and the young adult turned herself in on Jan. 13 at the Westlake jail, where she was charged with felony fleeing, according to a police department statement.
