TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, Arnold Schwarzenegger, 1991.

James Cameron has given us some of the most amazing movies across genres. From techy action like Terminator, to handling extraterrestrial villains in Aliens, to Oscar-winning drama Titanic, the director has been consistently pushing the boundaries with his ethereal vision, technological innovation, and immersive world-building.

And now, one of his most underrated franchises is about to get even easier to watch. At this point, Cameron is likely best known for the Avatar franchise. It is undoubtedly among the biggest on-screen sci-fi adventures ever made. The success of the original feature led Cameron to push more technological boundaries and give us worthy sequels a decade later with Avatar: Way of Water and Fire and Ash. As the saga is expected to continue with two more films. But before Cameron conceived his magnum opus, Avatar, he created another gritty world that has been entertaining fans worldwide for decades. Cameron’s Terminator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, started the franchise surrounding a cybernetic assassin traveling back in time to change the future. The success of the first film led to a franchise consisting of six feature films, a television series, and an anime. Now, parts of the franchise, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Terminator Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate, are getting more accessible, as these movies are soon dropping on Paramount+. Terminator 2 is usually regarded as a superior installment over the original, which is a mean feat to achieve. Genisys proved a soft reboot to reset the timeline, but failed to impress its audience. Dark Fate, conceived as a sequel to T2, ignores all other movies and brings back Linda Hamilton, but had a similar fate to Genisys. In retrospect, the movies seem like a time capsule of '90s action flicks. Related A Lightning Round of Riveting Historical Dramas in the Collider TV Quiz! Little is known about the next Avatar movie at this time, but it can be assumed that the story will pick up the pieces from Avatar: Fire and Ash and will lean into the generational aspect of Jake Sully’s family. New faces will certainly enter this universe, including Michelle Yeoh, who is set to play an undisclosed character in the next iteration. She said of her collaboration with Cameron,"James , you never know what to expect from him. So, I'm really, really looking forward to stepping back into that world because it's a very different world with the Avatars and things like that. It's not the same. It's not the same kind of acting, but it's the same kind of creativity and imagination." Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Genisys, and Dark Fate will drop on Paramount on April 1.
