A Cleveland man, 21, was cited at about 2 a.m. Jan. 11 after he failed to tell police that a loaded firearm was in his Jeep Compass. Also, a wanted Cleveland woman, 19, was arrested at about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Middleburg Heights police station.

Jan. 11 after he failed to tell police that a loaded firearm was in his Jeep Compass. Police pulled over the Jeep because the driver, the Cleveland man, didn’t slow down when passing a Brook Park police cruiser parked on the side of I-71. The cruiser’s emergency lights were flashing. The driver also failed to move from the right lane to a different lane when passing the Brook Park cruiser. The driver could have easily done so because there was little traffic on the road. Police asked the man if any firearms or illegal drugs were in the Jeep. The man said no. A police K-9 sniffed the Jeep and indicated that something illegal was inside. Police asked the man to step out of the Jeep. As he did, they noticed ammunition in the vehicle’s door panel. A Glock semiautomatic handgun was under the driver’s seat.A wanted Cleveland woman, 19, was arrested at about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Middleburg Heights police station, 15600 Bagley. The woman went to the station to request a police escort to her mother’s home on Gerald Drive. She wanted to pick up some belongings there. Dispatchers notified police that the woman was wanted in Strongsville for leaving the scene of a car crash.A 2008 Ford Taurus was stolen late Jan. 12 or early Jan. 13 from the parking lot of Red Roof Inn, 17555 Bagley. The victim, a hotel guest, suspected a woman he had met in Cleveland about two weeks earlier. She had been staying with him at the hotel. The man didn’t know her last name and wasn’t sure about her first name.A wanted Cleveland man, 30, was arrested at about 11:45 a.m. Jan. 13 outside Amazon, 6895 Engle. A license-plate-reading camera notified police that the man’s Buick Velar had entered the city. He was wanted for felonious assault in Cleveland. Police spotted the Buick Velar in the Amazon parking lot. When the man stepped out of the vehicle, police placed him in handcuffs.The theft was reported at about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15. Security video showed the man grabbing a decorative rock cave and one epoxy stick and leaving the store without paying.
