Finance experts at The Meaningful Money Podcast revealed the roadmap people can follow after one woman realised she didn’t have any retirement savings
Many people push to save, invest and stay on top of their pension funds while others rely on automation to do the heavy lifting around their retirement planning. Although this is not uncommon, things can sometimes go awry as one listener to The Meaningful Money Podcast revealed when she said she had to start her pension pot from the ground up at the age of 48.
Looking to the hosts, Pete Matthew and Roger Weeks, for advice on where to start, the fan got some tender words of comfort to begin with as Pete shared: “Pension sounds complicated - the word. A pension is just an account so don’t be scared of it. Like a savings account, an ISA.” Roger picked up on this, explaining that the caller could go down the “full DIY route” and pinpoint the exact funds she wanted inside her pension, which he admitted not a lot of people have the time and savvy to do, or she could find a company that has an off-the-shelf pension fund. All savers have to do with the latter is decide which company, which of their options best suits them and then “just drop your money in”.
