Former 'Boy Meets World' star William Daniels is celebrating his 99th birthday. The Los Angeles-based Daniels, who portrayed beloved teacher and principal George Feeny on the 1990s sitcom 'Boy Meets World,' tells TODAY.
com he’s ringing in his birthday on March 31 with his wife, Bonnie, 96, their two sons, Michael, 62, and Robert, 60, and their families. 'I'm going to spend my birthday with my family, and Michael is going to feed us,' says Daniels, whose acting career spans decades and includes his Emmy-winning performance as Dr. Mark Craig on 'St. Elsewhere' and voicing KITT, the state-of-the-art car driven by David Hasselhoff on 'Knight Rider.' Just as the wise Mr. Feeny doled out life advice to his students, the affable Daniels opens up about what he’s done to stay healthy and fit over the years. Stay Grateful At the top of the list? A sense of gratitude, he says. 'I think the most important thing you should know is that I am very lucky. I've been able to work and keep active and have a sense of purpose,' says Daniels. 'I was on 'Boy Meets World' until I was 73 years old!' Daniels says the greatest source of joy in his life has been his family, including Bonnie, whom he married in 1951. 'I have a wonderful wife, Bonnie, who has put up with me for 75 years,' he jokes. 'She keeps me busy.' Staying in touch with fans is also a treat for the actor, who appeared at both the San Diego Rocket Con 2026 and Pasadena Comic Con 2026 this year. He can also be found on Cameo. Exercise Regularly As for exercise, Daniels says he swam and played tennis for many years. These days, he and Bonnie work out with a personal trainer twice a week. 'My advice to others is to keep moving,' says the actor. 'Do things you enjoy and find some kind of exercise that you like.' A Balanced Diet Daniels says he's looking forward to his birthday dinner. Michael will whip up a homemade meal of his father's favorite food: pasta. There will also be a fresh salad, which is Bonnie's favorite. Daniels says he doesn't adhere to any special diet, and he certainly doesn't shy away from comfort foods. He and Bonnie regularly go to their favorite local deli for a hearty breakfast. Daniels' typical order? 'Poached eggs, toast, bacon, and a side of some fruit. Oh, and a small orange juice and coffee,' he says. He also stays hydrated by drinking a healthy amount of water. 'It's important,' he says. Keep Your Mind Sharp Daniels also knows the importance of keeping his mind sharp and alert, so he makes it a point to read daily and keep up with current events. 'I read The New York Times. That takes me the whole day,' he says, laughing.
