Brandon Tierney, a host on WFAN radio, believes the New York Giants' recent struggles mark the most depressing period in the franchise's history. Tierney compared the Giants' trajectory to that of the New York Jets, who hold the longest playoff drought in American professional sports.

The Giants ' downfall is the 'saddest disintegration' in New York sports, said WFAN host on Monday, January 6, 2024. They were the antidote to the greatest dynasty in NFL history, defeating the New England Patriots twice in the Super Bowl in the span of five years. Since then, Big Blue more resembles Gange Green, the Jets, who have the longest streak of seasons without making the playoffs (14) in American professional sports, said WFAN host Brandon Tierney in his midday show on Monday.

With Giants owner John Mara opting to stick with general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll for at least one more season, Tierney’s ready to declare the team’s downfall the most depressing in New York sports.Since Super Bowl XLVI, when the Giants defeated the Patriots the second time, Big Blue has gone 79-132, a .374 win percentage, in the regular season. They’ve made the playoffs twice, winning just one game in 2022 under Daboll, the team’s fifth head coach since Tom Coughlin walked away after the 2015 season. The Giants have followed up that playoff win with two consecutively bad seasons. After going 9-7 in 2022, they went 6-11 in 2023, and then 3-14 in 2024. This has converted the Giants from one of the most distinguished franchises in New York to arguably the worst, Tierney believes. “The Mets don’t have the history that the Giants do. The Yankees are always relevant. The Knicks are always overrated. In our own minds, we always overstate who the Knicks are,” Tierney continued. “But the Giants, along with the Yankees, were the bastion, they were the compass to competent and productive. They used to lead the way.
