The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a public health alert for certain grass-fed ground beef sold in several states due to possible metal contamination.
The USDA has issued a public health alert for ground beef sold at Mom’s Organic Markets over possible metal contamination, warning consumers not to eat it.No recall was issued because the product is no longer available for purchase.
The ground beef item was produced Feb. 26, 2026. The public health alert applies to 16-ounce plastic, vacuum-packed packages labeled "White Oak Pastures, Radically Traditional Farming, Grassfed Ground Beef."The product bears establishment number "EST 34729" inside the USDA mark of inspection and is stamped on the back with "105761 Sell by 03/19/26." It was shipped to a distributor and to Mom’s Organic Markets retail locations in Washington, D.C., and Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.The issue was identified by the company after it received two consumer complaints.No confirmed injuries have been reported. Anyone concerned about a possible injury should contact a health care provider, according to FSIS, which said it has received no additional reports of harm.Officials are concerned some of the product may still be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers are urged not to eat it and to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.Consumers with food safety questions can call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov. For consumers that need to report a problem with a meat, poultry, or egg product, the online Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System can be accessed 24 hours a day at https://foodcomplaint.fsis.usda.gov/eCCF/.
