Consuming more ultraprocessed foods could mean a greater risk for type 2 diabetes, according to new research. Experts share swaps you can make.

Whether or not you can easily identify the contents of your meal may affect your risk of developing type 2 diabetes, according to new research. Packaged foods, soda, chips, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and ice cream all fall under the category of ultraprocessed foods, which can include dozens of synthetic additives such as preservatives, emulsifiers and artificial dyes. And the report shows these foods can have a big impact on health.
