Tritons lose their sixth of seven games, fall to 4-12 in Big West Conference play following defeat at UC Davis
You don’t have to be a basketball savant to know what most hindered UC San Diego’s men’s basketball team at UC Davis on Monday afternoon. The loss was the sixth in the last seven games for UCSD as the Tritons fell to 9-19, 4-12 in the Big West. The Aggies improved to 16-12 and 9-7.
Pepper finished with 22 points, 18 in the second half. But he was far from his best, shooting 7 of 21 from the field. So frustrated as not drawing a foul on one shot, Pepper waved his arms at an official and drew a technical. The Aggies’ second-leading scorer, TY Johnson, struggled even more. Johnson came in averaging 15.2 points. He played 13 minutes, was 0-4 from the field and was scoreless before fouling out with 10:30 to play.
Freshman Roddie Anderson III led UCSD with 24 points. He was 10 of 21 from the field but the point guard had four turnovers against one assist. Bryce Pope added 14 points for the visitors on 4 of 12 shooting.
