Nonprofit asked for records of investigation of council member
A Superior Court judge has set a June 27, 2025, trial date for a lawsuit filed against the city of Lemon Grove for not responding to a request for public records relating to a City Council member.
In a separate claim, Briggs had alleged the city violated the Brown Act, the state’s open meeting law, because it did not place on the City Council agenda a new policy requiring council members to go through the city manager when addressing staff members. Council members also no longer have an access code to City Hall, which they can only enter during regular open hours.
He also requested each writing that contains the word “baboon” that was in possession of a city staff or council member between March 1-8, 2022. The request was related to Mayor Raquel Vasquez’s claim that LeBaron used the racist term against her.
