Tom Hardy in Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Tom Hardy has given us some great movies. From playing the titular Mad Max in Fury Road, a formidable antagonist in The Dark Knight Rises, a one-man show in Locke, voicing the loveable symbiote and portraying his host Eddie Brock in the Venom franchise, to his gangster turn in MobLand, the actor has a filmography full of binge-worthy titles.
Now one of his divisive films has found a new home. Venom: Let There Be Carnage is coming to Disney+. The movie will join its other Marvel counterparts later this month with the addition to the streamer’s vast library of superhero content. Let There Be Carnage, the second movie in the Hardy-led Venom trilogy, finds Eddie and the alien symbiote Venom facing off against serial killer Cletus Kasady when he becomes the host of his own symbiote, Carnage. After the $856.1 million success of Venom, fans were excited to see the duo back onscreen, especially against Carnage, who is a gruesome villain in the comics. However, the PG-13 treatment of the Andy Serkis-directed film did not fare well with the avid comic fans. The graphic, ultra-violent nature of Carnage did not come through in Kelly Marcel’s screenplay, while criticism was also levied towards tonal inconsistencies and a thin plot. Nonetheless, Let There Be Carnage was a box office hit, grossing $506 million worldwide during the pandemic era. How the movie divided the audience, and the critics can be observed in its Rotten Tomatoes score: a 58 percent by critics and 83 percent by the audience. Hardy’s performance was universally praised as the sequel embraced the franchise’s sillier side. Furthermore, the movie's post-credit scene introduces Hardy to the MCU, a treat for many fans. Tom Hardy Will Return With MobLand Season 2 Among Hardy’s latest releases is Guy Ritchie’s MobLand series, which got universal praise as a worthy gangster drama. With stars like Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren, the series has turned out to be a fan favorite with its dark twists and turns. It will return with a second season that’s expanding its scope beyond London,"There are international elements to organized crime, which are touched on in Season 1 and the control of drugs, ammunition and weapons and people and all kinds of things that go through Europe and from Africa through to South America, Pakistan and the variable commodities that move around Europe," Hardy previously revealed. Adding, “There are families that are involved in each European country that are vying for power to have that status to be able to move these kind of commodities through and who polices that and how that fits into a world stage."
