The study, involving 10,000 children aged 10-15, found that 67.
1% of participants use TikTok, with alarming signs of addiction among 11 and 12-year-olds and some even concealing their social profiles from parents. The research highlights TikTok's popularity among children and its potential harm, linking excessive social media use to depression, disruptive behavior, and eating disorders. Pediatrician Jason Nagata, lead author of the study, urges policymakers to address TikTok as a systemic issue and implement effective measures to protect children online, advocating for stronger age verification, parental control tools, and privacy protocols.
