Congressional Republicans have yet to acknowledge what's becoming clear: diplomatic disasters, economic missteps, and illegal tariff policies are undermining American interests at home and abroad.
Published: Feb. 23, 2026, 9:00 a.m.The Trump presidency has failed and it may take some time for Congressional Republicans to realize it. The attempt to annex Greenland was the first major failure, which has alienated Europe and united them against Trump and his bullying tactics.
Trump has called Canadians mean and nasty, but who can think of a president meaner and nastier than Trump? The second major failure by Trump is that his attempts to bully Canada have failed and essentially Carney has divorced America by seeking trading partners elsewhere. Even though presidents are not responsible for the price of gasoline, Trump is the exception because crude oil imports from Canada are going elsewhere. Fnally, the arbitrary and capricious use of tariffs that the Supreme Court ruled illegal has gutted Trump’s main tool for trying to bully other countries. Major corporations like Samsung and VFW are moving northward. On every major economic indicator, GDP, inflation, job creation, and affordability for example, Trump’s policies have been a disaster. Meanwhile, his cabinet of incompetent sycophants continue to try to prop up the toddler in the bubble and tell him how great he is.Think our reporters got it wrong ?
