Screens and lights galore decorate the opulent interior in the most luxurious S-Class.
A couple months ago, Mercedes-Benz marked an auspicious occasion: a new S-Class dropped. Now it’s time for the 2027 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class to join it.We’ll start with the great news up front: The V-12 lives on in the S680.
It’s the same 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 from before that makes 621 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, but Mercedes claims it’s added insulation to make the experience even more refined. Skipping the V12 for the S 580’s V8, however, isn’t so bad; just like the standard S-Class, the Maybach switches to the new flat-plane-crank 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Together with mild-hybrid assistance, output sits at 530 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of twist. It might just be impossible to go wrong between the two options. The rest of the Maybach S-Class sees a makeover, too. Light plays a big role in highlighting the much larger grille: you’ll see a light-up Mercedes star, a backlit “Maybach” name on the grille, and even the outline of said grille itself is now lit. The Maybach’s headlights might look similar to the regular S-Class, but peer close and you’ll notice unique rose gold elements within. Two new forged wheel options join the party: one a 21-incher with gold accents and the other a 20-inch polished silver wheel, notably with the floating star that remains upright at all times. For what is surely the most ostentatious of the wheels on offer, there's a new Night Series exterior package ; look closely, and you’ll see the endlessly repeating Maybach logos between the spokes. You can expect an even more comfortable ride than before thanks to new 'car-to-X' communication utilized for suspension pre-adjustments. When any so-equipped Mercedes vehicles driving ahead experiences a pothole, they'll automatically transmit that data to your Mercedes, allowing the air suspension and dampers to prepare.A great deal of attention is spent on the Maybach’s interior, as it adopts the same screen-heavy look of the regular S-Class. The MBUX-powered Superscreen setup comes standard, bringing a 14.4-inch central touchscreen, 12.3-inch passenger touchscreen and 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Maybach-specific touches include gold details throughout the interfaces and the classic gold Maybach emblem digitized in the cluster. The rear seat comes with twin 13.1-inch displays and even integrated cameras that will allow you to take video calls. For those ordering rather than buying off the rack, you’ll enjoy a greatly expanded array of customization options, as the Made to Measure program expands the exterior color palette to 150 paints and over 400 interior colors. Mercedes highlights that both Manufaktur Black Sparkling and Manufaktur Verde Silver Magno are new for 2026.The new 2026 Maybach is scheduled to arrive in U.S. dealerships in the second half of 2026. Mercedes doesn’t list a price yet, but the current S580 starts at $208,500, while the V12-powered S680 is $245,750, and we doubt the new ones will be any more affordable.
