Houston will talk with Los Angeles Rams assistant Thomas Brown, 36
Rams assistant head coach/tight end coach Thomas Brown is among the candidates for the Texans coaching job.The Texans requested to interview Rams assistant head coach and tight ends coach Thomas Brown, two sources with knowledge of the request told the Chronicle.
Brown, 36, has been with the Rams since the 2020 season coaching running backs and tight ends and won a Super Bowl with the franchise last year.Brown is one of at least seven candidates the Texans requested to interview for their head coaching position after they fired Lovie Smith. They interviewed Ben Johnson on Thursday, a source with direct knowledge said, and will interview more candidates in the coming days.INTERACTIVE:The request for Brown follows a trend for the Texans top brass.
“In the end it's a leadership position,” general manager Nick Caserio said, when asked what he’s looking for in the next head coach. “The head coach's responsibility is to consistently, continually message the players, create belief, create a vision for the team, work in concert with as many people that are in the building. My role is a supplementary role to be as big and as much of a resource as possible. It has to be a collaborative effort, and it will be a collaborative effort.
A former Georgia running back, Brown was drafted in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft by the Falcons. He played three seasons in the NFL, before he decided to get into coaching.
