State of the Roster: Houston Texans With a long offseason ahead, where do the Texans stand as we look back at 2022 and look forward to the future? _RyanFowler_ examines. WeAreTexans

An organization attempting to paddle with holes in its hull, the Houston Texans enter the offseason, once again, with an overwhelming amount of questions. With three consecutive campaigns of playoff-less football, coaching changes in back-to-back years, and an extremely young roster, working back to relevance remains an awfully tall task for general manager Nick Caserio.

While there wasn’t much to boast about as the Texans suffered through Weeks 2-15 with just one combined win, the 2022 draft class showcased a litany of talents Texans brass should remain excited about moving into next fall. It’s about baby steps, signs for the future—a metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel.was nothing short of spectacular.

In coverage, Pitre looked comfortable, recording five interceptions, and at one point had allowed the least amount of yards by a rookie that played a minimum of 200 snaps in coverage. While his ability in space wasn’t a box that he boldly checked out of college, he blossomed when asked to drop his hips and play in open areas. What also was impressive was combining that with the limited push Houston had up front, making it more challenging for the back end to cover for longer periods of time.

It was a learning process that saw Green establish himself well later in the season, and his performance against Cleveland in Week 13 showed flashes of the future. Like the overarching narrative of the Texans moving forward, it takes time, and Green checks off every single box you look for in a decade-long starter within the lungs of a front five.
