A friend of Dakota Mortensen, the ex-boyfriend of 'Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' star Taylor Frankie Paul, called authorities last month to report her involvement in an alleged domestic violence incident, police records show.
The complaint from the Draper Police Department in Utah states that the caller's friend was a 'victim of a domestic violence assault by an ex-girlfriend at her Draper residence.' The incident, which reportedly occurred between Feb. 22 and Feb. 23, was called in on Feb. 23. The victim later told police about two incidents of physical assault, including grabbing, scratching, shoving, and striking, according to the documents. The report said the victim was 'apprehensive to report due to ex-girlfriends' high public profile.' Police said photos of scratches on the victim's neck, as well as a screenshot of a 911 call log, were included in the report, and that the case is under an open investigation. Representatives for Paul and for Mortensen did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The heavily redacted report did not specifically name Mortensen as the victim, but NBC News previously reported that there is an open domestic violence investigation into Paul and Mortensen in Draper, with allegations on both sides, that was called in on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25. Draper police declined to share further details about the open investigation at the time, and it was unclear whether the friend's allegations are part of the previously reported investigation or another one. A separate open domestic violence investigation into Paul in West Jordan, Utah, alleges Paul assaulted Mortensen in 2024, a police spokesman told NBC News last week. The spokesman declined to provide further details, including the date of the incident, citing the open investigation. But he did note that Mortensen told officials he was referred to the West Jordan Police Department by the Draper Police Department due to the 2024 incident's jurisdiction. West Jordan police are reviewing multiple videos related to the alleged 2024 event to determine details and timelines, he said. Paul was also charged in connection with a domestic violence incident involving Mortensen in 2023 — the arrest for which played out on the first episode of 'Mormon Wives.' Court records stemming from the February 2023 domestic violence incident show that Paul pleaded guilty in abeyance to an aggravated assault charge later that year. Four other charges in that case — including assault, criminal mischief and domestic violence in the presence of a child — were dismissed with prejudice, the records show. TMZ released a video on March 19 that appeared to show Paul attacking Mortensen in that 2023 incident. That video led to ABC’s decision to pull Paul’s season of “The Bachelorette,” which was supposed to premiere on March 22. Reports that Paul is involved in multiple open domestic violence investigations led to the cast of 'Mormon Wives' making a decision to pause filming on Season Five of the popular Hulu reality series. Cast members on “Mormon Wives” also raised concerns to ABC executives about Paul’s behavior prior to reports of new domestic violence investigations, according to audio of a March 7 call between the cast and the executives, which was shared with NBC News. Paul has yet to speak out on the allegations, but told NBC News on March 19: 'I will have my truth.'
