m. But, business owners in central Pennsylvania are wondering why they're being left out of the extended fun. Governor Josh Shapiro signed Senate Bill 1218 last Friday, allowing bars and restaurants in Philadelphia to extend their hours during the FIFA World Cup and America 250 celebrations from June 11 to July 20, 2026. Currently, bars in Pennsylvania cannot sell alcohol after 2 a.m. The new law temporarily changes the state’s liquor code, allowing businesses to apply for a permit to extend their hours up to two hours earlier or later than usual. Establishments in good standing will pay a $500 application fee.The extended hours are designed to let fans watch matches that may air in the early morning and to boost revenue for local bars and restaurants. Philadelphia is one of the selected host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will host six matches, with the first game on June 14. The last time the United States hosted the World Cup was in 1994. This law is expected to create a major tourism and economic boost for local venues, especially small businesses. However, bars in the state capital, Harrisburg, will still operate under normal hours.Woman who accused PA restaurant workers of rape apologized days before charges: police A Harrisburg woman who accused restaurant employees of raping her is now charged with allegedly making false reports to law enforcement.A man reportedly lashed out at a Wendy's drive-thru sign after an issue with his food order, according to police.A Harrisburg man reportedly led officers on a high-speed chase on Monday afternoon in Lower Swatara Township.A Hanover man is facing second-degree murder and child abuse charges in the 2025 death of a 3-year-old child in Maryland. On March 26, the child was hospitalized
