Also in this week’s Independence Police blotter, a driver on his way to a party is found with a handgun.

A driver was cited for driving under suspension and drug paraphernalia possession at 3:35 a.m. March 25. The man was pulled over for having multiple open license suspensions and a glass pipe with brown residue inside fell from the man’s pocket during the stop. Police also found suspected crack cocaine in the man’s back pocket.A driver was pulled over at 1:04 a.m. March 24 for driving outside marked lanes. The man said he and his two passengers were going to a party and had gotten lost.

A driver with two prior OVI convictions in 2016 and 2009 was arrested for operating a motor vehicle impaired, speeding and refusing a breath test following a stop at 9:29 p.m. March 23. Police also found an open bottle of whiskey inside the car. The driver failed field sobriety tests and reports stated two of the driver’s friends came out of a nearby establishment and asked police why they had stopped her.A driver was pulled over for expired tags at 11:43 p.m.
