According to the San Antonio Police Department, on December 24, the Covert Unit was tracking down 18-year-old Esquire Pettit and 19-year-old Damion Holmes at an apartment complex near Melrose Place and Howard Street. Both were wanted for violent offenses. Police say they followed the suspects to a nearby store where they attempted to arrest them as they were exiting.19-year-old Damion Holmes fled the scene and led police on a pursuit. During the pursuit, Holmes pulled out a handgun and that's when he was shot by a detective. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Damion was booked for Aggravated Assault Against a Public servant, along with an active felony warrant
