A pedestrian was fatally shot following an attempt to flee from police after a routine stop turned violent. The incident occurred near a shopping center on the North side of San Antonio around 3:20 p.m.
SAN ANTONIO - An officer-involved shooting has been reported near a shopping center on the North side.
Police Chief William McManus told the press on the scene that the incident began when an officer attempted to stop a pedestrian walking on the roadway. When police attempted to make contact, the man believed to be in his late 20s, allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the officer, prompting the officer to fire at the suspect.
