Conditions were part of a warming trend that attracted large numbers of visitors to the Russian River and Sonoma County coast. Following Friday’s rescue, authorities said it illustrated why Russian River visitors need to be prepared for conditions that can change quickly and become dangerous. “Wearing a properly fitted can make a critical difference in survivability and rescue outcomes.
