Stephen A. Smith ‘dead serious’ ESPN colleague should’ve gotten a Pittsburgh Steelers coaching interview
believes one of his ESPN colleagues should’ve been interviewed for the Pittsburgh Steelers head coaching vacancy - and he’s “dead serious” about it.Clark played safety for the Steelers from 2006-13, winning Super Bowl XLIII over the Green Bay Packers.
Smith added: “I know they love RC. I know they know he’s a Steeler for a life. I know they pick up the phone and call him and defer to him and ask his advice....How come you can’t interview the brother?The Steelers hired McCarthy, the former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys coach, after Mike Tomlin stepped down after 19 seasons. There is reportedly some hope that McCarthy’s relationship with Aaron Rodgers will encourage the 42-year-old QB to come back next season. “We decided to bring Mike on because we believe that he’s the right coach for us at this point to help lead us to a championship. We don’t know what Aaron’s plans are right now, and that did not weigh heavily in the decision,”“We’ll see where Aaron is, and we’ve left the door open, but obviously we all have to sit down and see if that makes sense. So that’ll happen sometime in the next month or so.
