N.J. weather: Speeds reduced on Parkway, Turnpike due to snowstorm
The winter storm is expected to dump up to 12 inches of snow across southern New Jersey, with “near blizzard conditions” expected. The snow began before 6 a.m., with up to 2 inches per hour expected during the heaviest snowfall.
The snow will likely not reach much of North Jersey, which could see very little or no accumulations.On the Garden State Parkway, the speed limit is 45 miles per hour between the south end of the Parkway and Exit 77 in Berkeley Township On the Turnpike, the speed limit has been lowered to 45 miles per hour between the Delaware Memorial Bridge and Interchange 6 as salting is underway.Sunday night ahead of the storm for the five counties expected to get the highest snowfall totals of 8 to 12 inches - Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Cumberland and Ocean counties. State offices are also opening later at 10 a.m.
The warning now includes Atlantic, southeast Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Ocean and Salem through 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
