The Rangers looked as if they were playing at home in Ranger Stadium , though, pasting the Unicorns 56-21 for their eighth straight victory. 'It's a special place and our kids really enjoy playing here,' said Smithson Valley head coach Larry Hill , whose team is now 13-4 all-time when playing at the Alamodome .
' New Braunfels, which had won four straight games since back-to-back losses to Smithson Valley and Pieper back in October, got on the board on a 2-yard touchdown run by quarterback Clayton Namken to cut the Rangers' lead to 21-7 with 2:49 to go before halftime. However, the Rangers weren't done scoring before the break. Smithson Valley went 70 yards in seven plays, scoring on the final play of the half on a 1-yard plunge by Spradling to take a 28-7 lead.
