The West End of New Braunfels could see improved streets and sidewalks, drainage and other redevelopment projects under the city's new area plan.
New Braunfels is working on a plan aimed at redeveloping its West End neighborhood, with a vision of making streets more pedestrian-friendly, addressing drainage issues and creating new gathering places. The area, also referred to as the Westside , is west of downtown, inside Loop 337 . It sits between Interstate 35 to the south and railroad tracks to the north, with an eastern boundary of Walnut Avenue .
Old mill in New Braunfels may become mixed-use development According to the city, the neighborhood was known as “Barrio Seco,” and developed outside of the original city limits. It was anchored by the West End Dance Hall and Baseball Park, a social hub that no longer exists, and small corner stores throughout the area.

One, an area at Spur and San Antonio streets, could become a plaza that serves as a gateway to the neighborhood, with shaded play areas and outdoor seating for nearby restaurants. The second site is between Concepcion and Grape avenues, across the street from a park and skate park.
