A New Braunfels man accused in a federal indictment of plotting a mass shooting has pleaded guilty to a gun charge. Cameron Darrick Peterson , 20, admitted to one count of attempting to receive a firearm to use to commit a felony, according to a statement released Thursday by U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza of the Western District of Texas .
arrests New Braunfels man accused of plotting school shooting In following the tip, the FBI found out that Peterson tried to buy a 12-gauge shotgun from a pawn shop Jan. 4 in New Braunfels. He was denied because of his age — 19 — and the type of firearm he wanted to purchase, the affidavit stated. Agents interviewed Peterson on May 21. He allegedly told authorities that he was a daily marijuana smoker.
