MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte was a no-show at the National Bureau of Investigation , which is investigating her controversial statement about hiring someone to allegedly kill President Ferdinand Marcos, first lady Liza Marcos and Speaker Martin Romualdez if anything would happen to her Instead , Duterte was represented by lawyer Paul who submitted a letter on Wednesday denying the allegations and explaining her absence.
Santiago assured the public that the investigation remained impartial, despite Duterte's concerns about its fairness, citing directives from Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.The NBI is investigating possible violations of grave threats, the Cybercrime Prevention Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act.The bureau expects to finalize its findings and submit recommendations to the Department of Justice by early January.
