After the Brahmas were tabbed the least likely UFL champion before the year, San Antonio will play in the XFL Conference title game Sunday.

Two days after San Antonio locked in a playoff berth, coach Wade Phillips took to social media to remind the world about the Brahmas’ progress. With no context needed, Phillips on May 27 posted a set of power rankings from the start of the year, with San Antonio ranked last of the UFL ’s eight teams. Most oddsmakers before the season listed San Antonio as the least likely league champion, at about 14-to-1. Now, San Antonio stands just two wins from a UFL championship, as the Brahmas meet the St.

“It probably started Day 1, and that was one of the things that coming in, we had to try to get them to understand, this is not last year’s team. This is a new team. You get to set your own course. You get to write your own story.” In some ways, the Brahmas believe they are still fighting for respect.
