Police in Jersey Village are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a suspected road rage shooting that occurred on Highway 290 on Tuesday morning. The victim, Daniel, described a harrowing encounter where he narrowly escaped serious injury. The incident was reported in the eastbound lanes of Highway 290 near Jones Road, believed to have taken place between 7:50 and 7:58 a.m.
Daniel recounted that he had just entered the highway when he noticed a black sedan with dark tinted windows driving erratically, weaving through traffic and using the shoulder to overtake other vehicles. He stated that the car almost collided with his, prompting him to raise his hands in defense. In the ensuing moment, the sedan driver rolled down the passenger window and fired shots. 'I felt the bullets fly past my head,' Daniel recalled. 'You can feel the vibration in the air, it was really scary.' One of the bullets struck Daniel in the leg, requiring him to seek medical attention and undergo a nine-day wait for surgeons to successfully remove the projectile. Daniel's sister, Vanessa, expressed her profound concern and relief that her brother had survived the ordeal. 'He's a hard worker. He's a man of God,' she said. 'Seeing this happen to him when all he was trying to do was go to work, it's sad to think about.' Vanessa also shared her fear that the individual responsible for this reckless act is still at large. Both Daniel and Vanessa fervently hope that this dangerous individual is apprehended. Daniel, choosing forgiveness over anger, stated, 'They always say leave room for the wrath of God, I can't be angry. I'll let God handle that for me.' Detectives from the Jersey Village Police Department believe this shooting to be an isolated incident stemming from road rage. They are urging anyone who was driving in the vicinity of the incident to review their dash cam footage and contact investigators if they have any relevant recordings. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to call the police at 713-466-5824 or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477)
