Police in Jersey Village are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the individuals responsible for a suspected road rage shooting that occurred on Highway 290 early Tuesday morning. The incident unfolded in the eastbound lanes of Highway 290 near Jones Road, between 7:50 and 7:58 a.m., according to authorities. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a confrontation between two drivers.
One driver, who had just entered the highway, observed a black sedan with dark-tinted windows exhibiting reckless driving behavior, weaving through traffic and utilizing the shoulder to overtake other vehicles. The sedan subsequently returned to the regular lanes and maneuvered around the driver who had initially noticed its erratic behavior. As it passed, the driver of the sedan rolled down the passenger window and fired multiple shots at the other driver. Police stated that the suspect vehicle continued eastward on the Northwest Freeway following the shooting. The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, was transported to a hospital and is anticipated to make a full recovery. Jersey Village police are treating this incident as an isolated road rage event and are urging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or possesses relevant footage to come forward. Drivers who were traveling near the area at the time of the incident are encouraged to check their dash cam recordings and contact investigators if they have any footage that could be helpful to the case. Any individuals with information about the incident are urged to contact the Jersey Village Police Department at 713-466-5824 or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
