A 74-year-old rideshare driver was fatally struck by his own vehicle after an argument with his passenger escalated into violence.
A 74-year-old rideshare driver was tragically killed after being run over multiple times by his own vehicle. The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, near the intersection of 40th Street and Baseline Road. Police responded to reports of a pedestrian-involved crash and found Samuel Webster suffering from severe injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Webster was pronounced dead. The investigation revealed a disturbing sequence of events.
Witnesses and video surveillance footage indicated that Webster and his passenger, 31-year-old Jordan Spalding, had engaged in a heated argument that escalated dramatically. Both occupants exited the car, but Spalding subsequently returned to the vehicle and allegedly deliberately ran over Webster multiple times. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the rideshare company Webster was affiliated with.Spalding's account of the incident, as stated in court documents, alleges that Webster attempted to rape her. However, police have stated that no evidence supporting this claim was found at the scene. Furthermore, Spalding reportedly admitted to having consumed fentanyl earlier in the day. Spalding was arrested and booked into jail on charges of second-degree murder. She is currently being held on a $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 27
