PARK CITY — Jeff O'Driscoll, the lead detective in the case against Kouri Richins, who is accused of murdering her husband, will testify at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Park City courthouse. O'Driscoll, a detective with the Summit County Sheriff's Office, was expected to begin his testimony on Monday, but multiple motions attorneys needed to resolve caused delays.
Third District Judge Richard Mrazik granted a one-day continuance on Tuesday to give Richins' attorneys time to review transcripts from interviews between officers and witness Carmen Lauber. The attorneys agreed to prepare a written motion for the portions they would like to be admitted into evidence.Kouri Richins, 35, is charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder, first-degree felonies, two counts of insurance fraud, a second-degree felony, and forgery, a third-degree felony. She also has a separate case with additional financial charges, which will not be considered by this jury.She is accused of fatally poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, on March 4, 2022, and of attempting to poison him weeks earlier.
