The Resident Evil 4 Remake is considered one of the best remakes in modern history. Becoming the fastest-selling Resident Evil entry before it was surpassed by Resident Evil Requiem earlier this year, the remake of the 2005 Capcom horror game used the RE Engine in order to bring the game to modern consoles, as well as putting more of an emphasis on Ashley's character alongside her relationship with Leon.
However, unlike the more recent Resident Evil Requiem, which allows the player to choose between first and third-person perspectives, the Resident Evil 4 remake is locked to third-person. Although that is perfect for those who want to use their time checking out Leon, others believe that first-person offers more immersion, especially in horror games. Resident Evil 4 In First-Person Is A Game-Changer Although Capcom have no plans on bringing first-person to Resident Evil 4, it seems as though one fan has done the job for them, by uploading their Tactical First-Person Mode to Nexus Mods. Created by ErwinGunsmith, the mod does exactly what it says on the tin by allowing players to play through the entirety of the Resident Evil 4 Remake in first-person. On top of that, the mod adds iron sights to every weapon, as well as custom aim stances, animations, and more. As of the latest version of Tactical First-Person Mode, Leon's body now follows the camera, allowing him to sprint background, and this generally makes the mod feel a lot more native, and less clunky. All in all, this is the perfect mod if you have been searching for a way to create more immersion in the survival horror. However, if there are certain moments which you think would benefit third person more, you will be able to effortlessly switch between the two perspectives. The official mod page for Tactical First-Person Mode contains all the instructions you need to follow in order to install it, but other than needing to own a copy of the Resident Evil 4 Remake on PC, you are good to go. Resident Evil: Requiem Proved Leon Works In First-Person After all, it was 2026's Resident Evil Requiem that showed that playing through Leon's segments in first-person does actually work. Although Capcom recommends playing Grace's segments in first-person and Leon's in third, many players still tried out first-person for our dashing zombie-killer and the results were definitely worth it.
