Rochester, N.Y.— Renowned artists from across the country are traveling to Rochester this weekend for the Flower City Pottery Invitational.The three-day event,
13 renowned artists from across the country are traveling to Rochester for the Flower City Pottery Invitational, a three-day event taking place from Oct. 13-15, 2023.
The three-day event, which is open to the public at no cost, kicked off Friday night at the Flower City Arts Center, showcasing work from Lisa Orr, Bryan Hopkins and Adero Willard. “Humans’ brains grew bigger because they learned to cook. They learned to cook because they made vessels. So, it’s been a part of humanity and our building of culture and all cultures around the world for you know, eons” said Lisa Orr, an artist who traveled from Northborough, Massachusetts. “It’s sort of like a painting you can use.”
The event is expected to draw in hundreds of people over the weekend. Many of the pieces will be available to buy.Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. will showcase ceramic work from Yeonsoo Kim, Marce Nixon-Washinton, Jihye Han and Wes Brown.
