As the name suggests, you'll be stepping into a living, breathing frontier as a titular cowboy, only this time around there are plenty of supernatural Lovecraftian horrors to contend with. The further you explore the game, the more the landscape begins to fracture and crack around you, hinting at the monsters who will emerge in relatively short order. Produced by a solo developer, the game is designed to be highly cinematic, and it certainly has a relatively unique story to tell. Much of the gameplay is based around your ability to solve puzzles and progress through the world, with mechanical challenges made all the more difficult by the fact that you're being pursued by cosmic horrors the whole time. The one major caveat here is that the developer has disclosed the extensive use of AI within the development process. That includes the production of cinematics, language localization models, and even the voices featured within the game, though these are based on licensed performances. Think Red Dead Meets Bloodborne If you're trying to understand what exactly the vibe is going to be here, then Bloodborne is a relatively useful reference point for the kind of monsters that you'll be coming up against, while Red Dead Redemption serves as the obvious touchstone for cowboy characters.
