A far-right protest and counter-protest are taking place in Nottingham
People attending a 'far-right' protest and counter-protest in Nottingham have traded insults but there have been no reports of physical violence or rioting. Two protests are currently taking place in the city centre following the tragic killing of three girls in Southport.
However, since 1pm the two protests have gradually grown closer together with Nottinghamshire Police officers stepping in to keep the groups separate. The protestors have been hurling abuse at one another, and there have been incidents of cans and bottles of beer being thrown at the counter-protest group.
Ahead of the protests, the force stated: "The public can expect to see an increased high-visibility police presence in Old Market Square, on our transport routes, and within our communities throughout the weekend.
