Criminals have been targeting Tesco Express stores and petrol stations across Merseyside and Cheshire
In recent weeks, criminal groups have been targeting the stores and petrol stations, with two Esso petrol stations and Tesco Express stores being hit this week alone. Detectives have now confirmed that while the investigation into the incident remains ongoing, they are keeping an "open mind" as to whether all the crimes are linked.
In August, a blue Vauxhall Crossland car was involved in two incidents, although police are still investigating whether it was the same vehicle. On August 25 at a Tesco on Mill Lane, West Derby was targeted. Days earlier, on August 16, an almost identical offence occurred at the Tesco store on Cronton Road, Tarbock Green. Police were called at around 12.25am when the security alarm went off at the shop, on the Esso Petrol Station forecourt. The shop was closed at the time and nobody was on the site.
