Staff Reports Porter Dykes belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the seventh to help Providence Christian rally past South Walton 3-2 in a high school baseball game in Santa Rosa, Fla., on Thursday night.Providence, which had been limited to two hits through six innings, erupted in the seventh to snatch the win away.After a strikeout, Dykes belted the first pitch he saw for a three-run shot to left, scoring both Roman Banner and Rylan Banner, a courtesy runner for McClurkin.
In the opener, all 10 Kinston hitters drove in a run and six had a hit. The Bulldogs scored 15 runs in the fifth inning to break away from a 7-3 lead. For Houston County, Brayson Stephenson and Patrick Bolt had two hits each, while Ben Hunter and Nolan Fair had a single and RBI each. Clay Hand added a double.
Jenkins, the winning pitcher, went six plus innings, giving up the three hits. He struck out one and walked three. Walker got the final three outs, though he walked a batter. After Tyler Martin walked, the Houston pitcher tried to pick off Martin and threw it away, allowing Maund to race around and score to make it 3-1.
Jessie Pelham and Addison Senn both had two hits with Pelham earning a run-scoring single. Both Lawson Leger and Caden Collier had an RBI on a bases-loaded hit by a pitch. Leger also had an RBI during a ground out and throwing error that ended in a double play when he was thrown out trying to go to second.
