Staff Reports Porter Dykes had a dominant pitching performance and Providence Christian got a hit from eight players in a 10-0 Class 3A, Area 3 win at Ashford.
Caden Collier was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs batted in, Jessie Pelham was 3-for-4 two runs batted in and Dalton Murphy was 2-for-5 with three runs batted in to pace Ariton. Lawson Leger added two hits, one a double, and drove in two runs and Myles Tyler had two hits and one RBI. Ian Senn chipped in a single and RBI and Easton Kilpatrick had an RBI on a bases-loaded walk.
In the second game, a fielding error on Geneva County’s JD Shepard grounder on the Bulldog’s first at-bat prevented a perfect game for Colon. A double in the first inning by Caden Hutchings was the lone hit in the opener for Geneva County. The Bears capitalized on nine walks and one hit batter in the opening inning with four hits and an error. Ethan Simmons and Klete Meadows both had a two run-scoring single in the inning and Simmons added an RBI single, while Braylon Morris earned an RBI single as the Bears sent 18 to the plate. Eli Jones, Jaxxon Davis, Kaiden Bedsole and Taylor McCord had bases-loaded walks to drive in runs. McCord and Jones both scored on passed balls and another run during an error.
Headland 11, Eufaula 1: Miles Brannon and Logan Ivey combined on a five-hitter and one run allowed over five innings with seven strikeouts in the Ram win. Greenville 13, Pike County 9: Josiah Richburg had a run-scoring single and a bases-loaded walk for a run batted in and Jakori Green had an RBI off a bases-loaded walk for Pike County.Lakeside School 16, Chambers Academy 6: Lakeside School scored five first-inning runs and added seven in the fourth to take control of the AISA Class AA, Region 1, Area 1 contest.
