The recall comes after the manufacturer, Middle Way Electronics, learned about two cases where its CCCEI-branded power strips started sparking and melted, the Consumer Product Safety Commission explained in the recall notice.
The agency noted that no fires or injuries have been reported, but warned that a fire could cause serious injuries or death. In its recall notice, the CPSC indicated Middle Way Electronics’ CCCEI-branded power strips were available on Amazon from April 2024 and January 2026 and retailed for between $23 and $30. The recall affects the 6 foot, 10 foot, and 15 foot power strips. Approximately 5,500 of them were sold.The agency described the power strips as having a black metal enclosure with six spots to plug in electronics, with each one having its own on/off switch. A white label on the back reads: "Relocatable Power Taps. Caution keep children away. To reduce the risk of electric shock, use only indoors, risk of electrical shock. Do not plug into another relocatable power taps or an extension cord. Use only in dry location. Made in China"Customers who purchased the power strips are encouraged to contact Middle Way Electronics to receive a full refund. A consumer contact email address was given, directing people to CCCEIpowerstrips@outlook.com.
