SAN ANTONIO - Authorities have released body-cam footage from an officer-involved shooting that happened in December 2024.A surveillance operation on two suspects wanted for violent offenses resulted in one suspect being shot by an SAPD detective.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, on December 24, the Covert Unit was tracking down 18-year-old Esquire Pettit and 19-year-old Damion Holmes at an apartment complex near Melrose Place and Howard Street. Both were wanted for violent offenses. Police say they followed the suspects to a nearby store where they attempted to arrest them as they were exiting.19-year-old Damion Holmes fled the scene and led police on a pursuit. During the pursuit, Holmes pulled out a handgun and that's when he was shot by a detective. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Damion was booked for Aggravated Assault Against a Public servant, along with an active felony warrant. The detective involved has 22 years of service and will be placed on administrative leave until further notice.
